Children share

Children share

Gently staring focussed face
Offered by the infant’s grace
Holding out her little hand
Holding in it, simple sand.

Here this is, for you to see
All for you, it’s held by me
All for you, I’m offering
Looking up so tenderly.

With a small and simple gift
Sharing I’ve been holding this
Playing with it day to day
Take it from me, look this way.

Come and see what I’ve got
Pours into your palm the lot
Cradling so carefully
What she’s giving so freely.

Children grow, innocence fades
Sweetly sharing always stays
Weary colleagues really say
I’ve made this, I worked all day.

Here it is for you to see
All for you, it’s held by me
All for you, I’m offering
Looking out, so sincerely.

Will you take what’s in my hand?
Won’t you see this lovely sand?
Here it is from me, with you
Will you help and share it too?
